Activity 2.5 Sketching Practice
Introduction
Sketching is a valuable engineering skill that needs to be developed through practice. Through practice you will be able to communicate your vision of your idea.
In this activity you will apply the skills that you learned earlier in this lesson to more complex objects.
Procedure
Each of the following nets can be cut out and folded into a box. Note that there may be more than one square on each face of the box once constructed. Sketch an isometric pictorial sketch for each of the boxes formed.

Conclusion
1. What is a technical sketch? What is an artistic sketch? How are the two similar and how are they different? A technical sketch is a sketch that displays dimensions and should display the different parts of the subject. An artistic sketch, on the other hand, is the aesthetic drawing; just showing the object's looks, but still uses some sort of proportioning and ratio.
2. How do you envision applying your sketching skills in other classes? If I had to design something for a class or make a poster and sketch, I'd use my shading skills along with the different drawing techniques (depending on what I'm sketching) to draw what I need to draw.
3. How do you envision applying your sketching skills in college? I plan to either be an accountant or get into law, so possibly sketching a description that an eye witness may give could utilize the sketching skills learned in this class.
4. How would you teach sketching to a student next year? I would show them the different techniques of sketching and try to show them techniques I personally use to "get out of a rut."
